HISTORY

The moral situation of Mangagoy had made the late Rt. Rev. Msgr. Daniel B. Ortega think of opening this Catholic College.  The Catholic youth have been exposed to all kinds of beliefs which are found very active in the locality.  To keep their faith, he envisioned the establishment of this institution.

Encouraged by the availability of old buildings in the parish, the good Msgr. decided to apply to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports (MECS) for the opening of the first Year General Course leading to Bachelor of Arts (AB) and the first Year Junior Secretarial Course.  The Catholic population of Mangagoy overwhelmingly endorsed the opening of this school.

Aware of the growing needs of the community in helping the poeple, the school has expanded through the opening of the General and Maternity Hospital which at present is in full operation.

In 1990, the school main building had expanded further through the construction of the two-storey building attached to the left wing of the old building facing Andres Soraino Avenue for the high school department.

The school year 1992-93 was the retirement og Msgr. Daniel B. Ortega and his directorship was turned over to the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Francisco A. Olvis.  On April 1993, he was installed as the new School President of SVPC.

Under the new administration, Rev. Fr. Francisco A. Olvis continued the endeavor f the old buildin were constructed.  Guidance and ROTC Officers were also installed.  the dispute area of the school premises, which Msgr. D.B. Ortega had worked for, was also undertaken.  And the school won the case.

On June, 1994 a widening of the school ground was fully implemented.  On March 1995 was the beginning of the construction of the three-storey concrete building.

On July, 1995, Rev. Fr. Ivan E. Novo was installed as parish priest and at the same time School Director.

July 2001, a new administrator, Rev. Fr. Arturo P. Langit took the place of Rev. Fr. Ivan E. Novo (who is sick on leave).

At present, SVPC is venturing all TVET courses that are indemand.
